My name is Sepehr, and I’m a PHP developer. You might have seen my recent
PR #22614.

I’ve been spending some time exploring PHP’s internals lately, and I’m
really enjoying the process of understanding how everything works under the
hood. I know I’m still quite new to the internals workflow, so if I’m
missing any conventions or doing things in a “non-standard” way, please
don’t hesitate to let me know—I’m here to learn and contribute the right
way.

I’ve been experimenting with a concept for an array_search_range function
to help optimize certain array operations. I wanted to see if this is
something that might be useful to the language or if there are existing
ways I should be looking at first.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for all the great
work you do. I’m looking forward to learning from you all.

Hi Sepehr,

Regarding array_search_range(), my first reaction is: What purpose could
this proposed function serve that is not already well provided by
array_find_key()?

Whatever your new function might do, make sure that it will serve many
applications and will provide a significant improvement to the language. If
you cannot make a strong case for why the language needs your function, it
might not be worth proposing.

Start by explaining your idea, provide several clear examples, and open it
up for discussion before investing too much time in the technical
implementation.  Good luck.

Thank you for your contribute on #22614.

That PR(#22614) is still need changes, But I think you can go to the
voting phase.
What do you do?
