PHP 4.4 Breaks Backwards Compatibility

http://phplens.com/phpeverywhere/?q=node/view/205 We slightly broke BC for PHP 5 in order to get the reference stuff resolved. Now I remember (senile me) one of the reasons we didn't apply this fix to PHP 4. I suggest to hold the PHP 4.4 release until we see if/what can be done regarding the BC break. The problem is that this change was made, because we had to fix behavior which wasn't supposed to work in the first place and led to corruption. Andi
