php 4.4.7 make install with pear causes zend freeing errors

I have recently upgraded from php 4.4.0, to php 4.4.7. I am running this on openbsd 3.6 i386. My configure options are as follows: ----- ./configure \ --prefix=/usr/local/php4 \ --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs \ --enable-debug \ --disable-cgi \ --enable-force-cgi-redirect \ --enable-discard-path \ --enable-safe-mode \ --disable-short-tags \ --disable-ipv6 \ --enable-magic-quotes \ --with-openssl \ --with-pcre-regex \ --with-curl \ --with-curlwrappers \ --with-mcrypt \ --enable-session \ --with-mysql=/usr/local \ --with-mysql-sock=/var/www/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock ----- After running configure and make, I run make install. Usually that would have been perfectly fine. But in case of PHP 4 the answer is: Upgrade to PHP 5.2. For more read the news at http://php.net/ especially the one with topic: "PHP 4 end of life announcement" :) --Jani

Thank you for your response. Yes, I know about the end of life. And, we are working towards getting all of our customers off of PHP4. However, some have found a way to write code that requires php4. We are working with them. However, we just upgraded to 4.4.7 and had this problem during the upgrade. If the only answer is to upgrade to php5, we will accelerate the conversion to php5 and get there as soon as possible. JohnM

[...] You shouldn't use --enable-debug as long as you're not trying to fix some bugs in PHP. The messages you've sent are only shown when that debug flag is set since it's known that under some circumstances the engine can't really free memory until the script ends. The notices are there to see if they accidentally forgot to free some memory which might be freed before. johannes
